New Kickstarter—Presenting the Scarlet Citadel!

If you're an Empire of the Ghouls fan, you're likely a fan of 5E adventures set in the darkly fantastical world of Midgard. Well, sound all the bells, slide-whistles, and kazoos at hand, because the kobolds have another adventure on offer. Kobold Press has just launched our Scarlet Citadel for 5th Edition Kickstarter project!
Written by tabletop RPG luminary Steve Winter, Scarlet Citadel includes a sprawling adventure for 5th Edition in the classic style for 10 levels of play. Veteran industry editor Misty Bourne and fan-favorite cartographer Jon Pintar round out Scarlet Citadel’s top-tier crew of tabletop aficionados.
Original traps and new monsters lurk in the citadel's depths, as do magical mysteries and nefarious plots. Malevolent creatures spin shadowy webs, enchant foul magics, and summon forth dark gods. In Scarlet Citadel for 5th Edition, players will face harrowing foes, meet curious allies, and unearth the ancient treasures and secrets that lie scattered everywhere!
Along with this massive adventure, this Kickstarter project includes the Scarlet Citadel Map Folio. These ten beautiful, full-color, fold-out battle maps depict all levels of the dungeon and are perfect for tabletop RPG miniatures. Plus, the folio includes several smaller overlay maps that allow Game Masters to easily depict traps, hazards, and other unique features in the dungeon!

Print Rewards Shipped!

Dear backers,
Thanks for your patience with us! Despite the printer shutdown and a key trucking company folding, the backer hardcover for Empire of the Ghouls and the softcovers for the Underworld Player’s Guide and Underworld Lairs have shipped out to the print backers!
When Will My Copy Arrive?
This is a tricky question, and it depends.
The USPS is understaffed and struggling with new management and high volumes, and we’ve noticed that shipping times have increased. Books shipped within the U.S. and to U.S. addresses overseas (APO and FPO destinations) can take up to two weeks to arrive, and sometimes a bit longer. You might see your books sooner if you live on the West Coast, but we expect most of the books to arrive between July 21 and August 7. The vast majority should arrive by July 31, even though there are more stragglers now than there used to be.
For Canadian and overseas backers, shipping times are ranging from a month to 6 weeks, due to factors such as the low volume of air traffic carrying packages. We expect worldwide shipments to arrive by Monday, August 31.
What If I Don’t Receive My Package?
For every project, some packages are lost in the mail. We weep at the loss, but of course we want every backer to get their pledged-for rewards.
Please contact us at [email protected] if you pledged for print rewards and they have not arrived by August 7 (if you are a backer with a U.S. shipping address) or by August 31 (if your shipping address is outside the U.S.). We’ll sort it out.
What If I Want to Order Additional Print Books?
Now that backer books are in the mail, we have added the print editions to the Kobold Press Store. You can pick up additional copies of both the hardcover, the Underworld Lairs softcover, and the Underworld Player's Guide there. A small quantity of Empire of the Ghouls’ limited edition books may also be available eventually; for now, we’re holding on to those extras as a reserve against books going missing or being damaged in transit.
Where Do I Send a Typo or Other Editorial Issue?
Please send to [email protected] with a page number and we’ll review your feedback when making PDF updates. If it is a rules or game mechanical change, it will be considered for errata.
What’s Next from Kobold Press?
The kobolds are proud to say that the Deep Magic for 5th Edition hardcover will release in August! It is available in PDF on the Kobold Press store now, and the license is available on Roll20. The license will also be available from Fantasy Grounds in a matter of days!
The next Kickstarter from the kobolds is the Scarlet Citadel multi-level dungeon, which will Kickstart sometime in September.

Charity Stream Game Featuring Ghoulish Designers!

In honor of virtual KoboldCon, the kobolds are streaming a charity game on May 2nd that will feature one of the lairs in Underworld Lairs. Several past and present kobold designers will participate in the game, including two of the chapter designers on Empire of the Ghouls: Christopher Lockey and Kelly Pawlik!
The game will benefit the charity Extra Life and will start at 8pm EST / 5pm PST. Come join the kobolds on Twitch, support a good cause, and watch kobold shenanigans unfold! If you can't make it to watch the live stream, the game will be uploaded to the Kobold Press Youtube Channel later in the week.
